"Principles Only Please!" 3rd Stone Design is a gathering place for seasoned design professionals intent on making good on the promise of collaborative problem solving. Through one path or another the people who work on our projects have come to the conclusion that life is short and that the best use of one’s time here is in service to our broad global society, not narrow self interest.
We recruit, retain, and refresh experienced designers, researchers, and engineers from many backgrounds. We build teams appropriate for specific projects believing the Seven Samurai was truly the best piece of project management literature ever made. We know that creative people do their best work when supported and challenged. We seek to provide that balance to our teams daily.
Robert Miros, CEO / Founder Robert has been active in the product development arena for 15 years both as consultant and in house product design leader. In house roles have included Vice President and Director positions with medical device, alternative energy, and consumer product companies. Robert established 3rd Stone Design in 2004 so that needs from around the globe could be considered when embarking on new product development endeavors.

Robert grew up on the plains of South Dakota and in the Kathmandu valley of Nepal. This split geography instilled a fascination with those elements of modern life that change our relation to the world. As a professional, product developer he remains fascinated by production methods, new tools, and the blissful interaction of hand and eye. A craftsman and designer, an engineer and problem solver, Robert is blessed with the opportunity to put both sides of his brain and both of his hands to good use each day doing challenging work.
Robert holds a BSE degree from Stanford University in Product Design Engineering and a BA in International Relations with a specialization in Technology Transfer. He has lectured and served as Guest Faculty at Stanford University and Brown University. He is on the Advisory Board for Whirlwind Wheelchairs International, a non-profit organization dedicated to developing and distributing wheelchairs in resource poor communities throughout the world.
